Te Wānanga Takiura invites you to join Te Tohu Paerua Toitupu Tāporo Reo Māori, a Level 9 Master’s programme designed to empower you as a leader, educator, and kaitiaki of te Ao Māori.
What you’ll learn
At Te Wānanga Takiura, you’ll learn in an environment steeped in manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and rangatiratanga.
This 2-year full-time programme is not just about academic achievement; it’s about empowering you to make a difference for your whānau, hapū, iwi, and te Ao Māori.
During this programme you’ll cover:
Year 1: Foundational modules focussing on enhanced levels of te Reo Māori, Māori principles, and philosophy.
Year 2: Advanced research and application through major foundational projects relating to your hapū and iwi.
What you’ll gain
In this programme, you’ll gain advanced mastery of te Reo Māori, including te Reo o Kawa, te Reo o Paki, te Reo o Karakia, and te Reo o Ao.
You’ll deepen your understanding of Mātauranga and Tikanga Māori, learning how to apply them in modern and traditional contexts. Along the way, you’ll develop the leadership skills to promote and uplift te Reo Māori, Mātauranga Māori me ngā Tikanga Māori in:
kura
marae
hapū
iwi
and your wider hāpori.
By the time you graduate, you’ll be knowledgeable, fluent, confident, and ready to protect and grow these taonga for our future generation of tamariki and mokopuna.
Eligibility
This programme is designed for passionate individuals who are ready to elevate their knowledge of te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and Mātauranga Māori, and lead their growth within your communities.
To be eligible, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:
Have an enhanced Bachelor’s degree in te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, Mātauranga Māori.
Have demonstrated fluency in te Reo Māori across kōrero and tuhituhi.
Have a commitment to becoming a kaitiaki of this taonga tuku iho.
